Occupation: Former XIIth Legion of the Garlean Empire, Mercenary, Sword for Hire.Rykena hails from Black Shroud born on the 5th Sun of the 2nd Umbral Moon, where she grew up hunting in the thick forests with her clan. During this time her people had come to conflict with the forest folk of Gridania. Rykena eventually left her clan during these conflicts to pursue other ventures, as she was not keen on giving to compromise to people who judged and mistreated her kind simply for following their cultural beliefs and huntings, eventually leading her to end up serving in the Garlean Empire. Rykena sympathized with the Garleans anger and desire to return from the cold snowy exile they were forsaken to and respected their desire to take back what was initially their lands with force, leading to her indoctrination.Rykena served loyally with the XIIth Legion as a Pyr, more commonly known as a Decurion, commanding a small unit of veteran infantry soldiers, during this campaigning with the Garlean Empire, Rykena, and her Legion, were stationed in Doma. Rykena ruthlessly and viciously crushed rebellion and insurgency under the guidance of her Legatus, where brutality got respect & power, something that shaped Rykena to who she is.During this occupation of the Far East, Rykena picked up her famed sword; Kubikiribōchō, the decapitating cleaver. This sword was then imbued by Rykena with her aether, to grant it a further enchantment that allowed the blade to absorb the blood and aether of its victims to repair itself. The large blade was used by Rykena to slaughter Domans and their families in mass. Earning her the moniker; The Head-Hunter & The Butcher of Doma. Prior to get occupations end, Rykena was earned the promotion of Rem, and being promoted to Primus Pilus.However, after the fracturing of the Garlean Empire, due to in fighting, and a civil war, prior to their defeat by the Eorzean Alliance, Rykena took to mercenary work, traveling the lands of Eorzea as a sword for hire, hunting down others to slaughter for gil. It is here where she met her mentor, who began training her in the ways of Dark Arts and honing her skills in tapping into her Aether with her dark emotions to fuel her abilities and begin steering her on the path to redemption for her time fighting against the people she now walked amongst. It was not without flaw however as during the final courses of her traveling and training with her mentor, that she gave into the rage and lost control, inevitably killing her mentor and friend.Over the next few years Rykena drifted about, still staunchly affected from the war machine she once served and the isolated lifestyle she led, deciding to keep everyone at arm's length, so that she may not harm them again given she gives into her darker tendencies. Currently Rykena drifts about no longer serving at the Del'Havia estate.Rykena is distinguished by her pale skin, crimson eyes, dark hair, facial and full body tattoos, the small Garlean tattoo within her left ear and Kubikiribōchō, the very large head cleaving sword in which she carries everywhere.Rykena can be found working on her magitek motor bike, or at The Sands catching a drink, where others of lesser fortune may hire her for her talents, whether it be body guarding, escorting transports, or murder for hire. Rykena dabbles in Forbidden Magicks, and Blacksmithing constantly altering and refining the dark blade she wields by polishing it and enchanting it with tapped blackblood from foes she has slain.Rykena is not known for her personal charm, or warm welcoming attitude, as she is reticent and brooding in nature given her history and Species, having given up everything and feeling she once cared for to master the dark arts.Rykena is considered an S-Rank combatant and engagement with her is ill-advised given her less than ethical or moral approach to dispatching annoyances.Rykena is slowly learning now who she is and where she fits into the world, while she is no longer what she was in the war, the struggles of new life, PTSD, and lack of childhood and socializing have put her at odds with society. Deep down, the lost Miqo'te searches to find who she truly is and what purpose she serves, searching to find how what she did and was good at, can be turned around into something better.Unfortunately, due to her practices, and recent actions along with being a former war criminal, Rykena has been incarcerated by the Ossuary for her past indiscretions. Forced to serve at their call hunting anything they determine to dangerous and a risk to the public as a suicide agent until her sentence is deemed served.((OOC Kena is designed to be a Villain character, rough, abrasive and the polar opposite of a hero.
